Project information
The main topics of our project are:
· advertisement as a manipulating tool that often contains misleading information, · consumer culture and consumerism and its influence on the quality of people's lives and on environment, and · green choice as an alternative. By carrying out this project, we want to raise awareness among young people on consumerism as a growing threat for values in society, and to encourage critical thinking on the advertisements that may contain misleading, false information. We want to discuss about advertisements we see every day everywhere and problems hidden behind; the influence of ads on our society and our minds, and the consequences, and impacts both on the sustainable development and environment. Are there any ethical contradictions and why? We will find out the answers and new ideas by discussing, learning from each other, interactive lectures, brainstorms, games, international workshops etc. Time period and venue: 29 April - 7 May 2006, Latvia, Liepaja
Call for partner organizations CDN - Cooperation and Development Network Eastern Europe is announcing a call for partner organisations of the Youth Exchange "Green Choice versus Consumerism".
The main idea of the youth exchange is to bring together young people from different countries who are interested in green issues and are interested in our common future. Project will take place in Liepaja, city at the Baltic Sea in the western part of Latvia. Place of the event is non-commercial centre for non-formal education, integration, through art performances and alternative centre for creative activities both for youngsters and adults, in a district with an interesting historical background – mixture of nearness of sea, taste of wind, soviet history, orthodox cathedrals, and contemporary art. 25 Turkey - Avrasya Community This exchange is organised in cooperation between CDN and Green Alternative, Latvia. We are planning to apply to Latvian National Youth Agency. Based on this we can not have more then 8-10 partners in total and as well there are certain rules of the Youth Program that have to be respected (related to groups of countries that are able to apply together). At the moment we are still receiving applications (deadline is 27th of October at 14h CET) and CDN Executive Committee and Green Alternative are in contact in order to make this selection fair and in interest of project and both organisations.
Final list of partners 09.11.2005 Dear friends, there has been once again very good interest in the activity we are about to organise. Exchange in Latvia in May 2005 "Green choice vs. consumerism" attracted 25 applicant partners!!!
Due to restrictions of Youth Program (you cant combine some group of countries, unfortunately) and possibilities of Youth agency in Latvia we had to apply for ONLY 8 countries! So, it was a taught choice...
This is why we would like to thank you VERY much for your interest in joining this event BUT we had to make a choice and the prep team decided to have the following countries (organisations) as partners: 1 Albania Stinet Asociation

There will be more events and more chance! 28.11.2005 Dear friends, based on the final discussion with the National Agency in Latvia we had to change the final decision of the partners for the exchange. They insisted on the balance between South Eastern Europe countres present and Programme countries. So, we had to make the cut and now the FINAL final list of partners is: 1 Albania Stinet Asociation

Youth Exchange in Latvia is canceled!!!!! 23.04.2006 Dear all, I have to inform you that unfortunately due to several organisational reasons we cannot continue working on the organising the proposed youth exchange in Latvia. That means that the project-youth exchange is canceled. It was a hard decision for me too but I see that that there is no other way. Thanks very much for involving in this project and for your good will. Please inform all that should be informed about this. I apologize once again for all inconsequence’s.
