Project summary:
The main theme:
The main theme of the Summer Camp will be the holistic perspective of Green Economics and the role of the Youth in implementing the key concepts of Ecological Economics reaching Sustainable Development.
Aims and Objectives:
With this event we want to explore the best methods and encourage youth to take active role in their societies to fight for a new Sustainable basis of Economics which will not tend to endanger environment, tend to violate human rights or create a gender disbalance and which will not support the raising gap between rich and poor social groups.
We want to learn about the role of young people in building Green, Ecological societies and the best methods that can be used to make youth work efficient and effective. We will do this by means of democratic practices and respect of human rights, while celebrating diversity, and promoting intercultural and inter ethnic understanding.
We will encourage multiculturalism and interethnic dialogue by emphasizing how important youth work and activism is in supporting sustainable, democratic, multiethnic and diverse society development. Objectives: Defining Economics – history, conventional and alternative approach. Defining Green and Ecological Economics.
We want to examine the collision of current Economics with Ecology and agree on the best practices to be used by youngsters in order to prevent the destruction of the natural environment and lower the impact of the current consumerist world.
We will study on role of the European youth in current economical concepts and agree on the best means for improving the position of young people.
We will explore the reasons of Gender Inequality caused by the conventional economics and get to the methods which will improve Youth Participation in the field in order to help the fight in achieving a gender balanced world.
We want to debate on the role of current Economics in encouraging the violation of human rights. Furthermore, we want to conclude on the model which could represent the best solution for sustainable economic policies which will have to prevent, and not support, the violation of human rights.
We will examine the role of Economics in allowing global violence – Wars, regional conflicts, conflicts between majority and minority... and agree on the position of Youth in preventing the conflicts.
We will encourage and give the skills to our members so they can be able to form a new Working Group within the Network which will deal the issues of Green Economics and continue the work.
This seminar will help knowledge and information flow so that young people could be better acquainted with the position of these issues in different countries in Europe and also to draw some general conclusions on them. This gathered information, knowledge and connection among participants of the Project should bring closer European youth and encourage them to participate more in dealing with each of these issues further on, more thoroughly.
This seminar will evaluate and find the best ways of improving and supporting cooperation and dialog between youth from Eastern and Western parts of Europe.
Methodology
The seminar is conceptualized as the combination of lectures, workshop, panel debates, educational role-play games and other different program elements, as well as promoting youth participation by means of street action. The lectures will be provided by experts from both Eastern and Western Europe having a strong experience in dealing with active participation of young people and a holistic view concerning environmental, social and economic issues in societies. At the workshops we will focus on personal experiences and interactive learning while for the street action we will put into practice what we have learned.
