Cooperation and Development Network Eastern Europe is announcing a call for participants for Caucasus Regional Meeting, that is taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia, from 17 to 19 November 2017.
This event will gather Green-minded activists from South Caucasus and serve as a platform for discussing common challenges of activists in the region and exchanging experiences and strategies for addressing these challenges. Therefore, we want to:
1. Discuss how current political regimes in the three countries affect youth activism, share local contexts and identify threats and opportunities for consolidation of a Green movement in the region;
2. Exchange strategies and tools for successful youth activism in the region;
3. Address the gender inequality issue with emphasis on the position of LGBTQ+ people in the region;
4. Equip the activists with practical skills and tools for protecting their privacy online in order to overcome surveillance (encryption, safe browsing, VPN, etc.).
Participants:
We are looking for young Green and Green-minded activists coming from Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan, willing to share their activist experience and learn from the others. When selecting participants, an advantage will be given to CDN Member Organisations from the region as well as to the Greens/CDN-associated organisations and initiatives.
Methodology
The program will be based on the principles of non-formal education. We strive for active, inclusive and direct communication and knowledge sharing. Sessions will be balanced between educational inputs, workshops, discussions, reflections, exchanges, brainstorming and other interactive methods of learning. The program will be facilitated by young activists from the region and CDN structures.
Practicalities:
-The full cost of lodging during the meeting will be covered by the organisers: Accommodation in a hostel with multiple bedrooms; Meals – starting from a dinner on the 17th and ending with lunch on the 19th (note: some meals might be vegan or vegetarian); Coffee and refreshments in between sessions.
–Travel to Tbilisi by land will be fully covered.
–Optional: participants might choose to contribute to the event with 10 EUR participation fee if their financial situation allows so. We do not want the participation fee to be an obstacle for someone’s participation. Therefore, financial contribution is not a selection criteria.
-All sessions will be conducted in English – therefore participants are expected to have a working knowledge of it.
DEADLINE for submitting applications is Monday, 30 October 2017 at Midnight (CET).
