After the series of events started in 2016 with the long-term goal to enhance the Green Movement in by developing the Green vision among the wider youth in the region, CDN continues with a new series of activities towards the same goal. By establishing a connection between young, Green-minded people and organisations in Ukraine and the RUMB (Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus) region, by deepening the understanding of Green values and connecting Green activism to Green politics, we are going to create a platform for young activists to examine the ways of influencing certain policies in an inclusive, green, and democratic manner in local and regional contexts.
Cooperation and Development Network Eastern Europe (CDN) is opening an intern position in its office in Belgrade. The intern(s) will work together with and under the mentornship of CDN Secretariat – Office Coordinator and Network Coordinator.
The purpose of the internship is to provide an opportunity for individuals to substantively contribute to and learn from CDN’s work. The intern will be given specific tasks and responsibilities and will be challenged to develop their capabilities and gain experience. The intern is expected to be flexible and to take part in various activities at the office and sometimes in the field, where CDN’s activities take place. Continue reading

Report on the “Digitised Security – How to read online surveillance and fight it!” seminar
From 24-30 April 2017, the Cooperation and Development Network of Eastern Europe (CDN) – in collaboration with the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe, and Green European Foundation (GEF), and with the support of Green Forum, ISOC Serbia, ISOC Europe, and MEP Terry Reintke – organised a six-day youth seminar on cybersecurity and digital rights in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. More than 40 young people from all over Europe explored how the Internet works, how it is governed, how it has developed since its inception, and what it means today for society, young people, and for (Green) activism and politics. Cooperation and Development Network Eastern Europe AISBL (CDN) held its 8th General Assembly from 23rd to 26th of February 2017 in Zagreb, Croatia. The host organisation of the General Assembly, FORa Zeleni Prozor, did amazing work, preparing perfect conditions for meetings and work and welcoming CDN’s delegates and guests. During the GA, the delegates and guests had an opportunity to participate in a panel discussion on the world population growth moderated by the hosts, which provided an excellent warm up before the heated debates on CDN’s new Political Platform. We are happy to announce that Sopho Mchedlishvili will start as a new Network Coordinator, a position in CDN Secretariat, in January 2017. Being committed and politically interested, she has a background of Green activism, and is a former member of CDN Executive Committee (two mandates, in 2011 and 2012). She was one of the early members of CDN Member Organization Georgian Young Greens, Georgia. For over four years she had been involved in youth projects, non-formal education and the Green movement. CDN, the digital [x] working group and Revolt are organising an international youth seminar on digital rights. It will take place from 24 – 30 April in Bosnia. It was inspired by a digital [x] webinar that looked at the political reactions sparked by the terrorist attacks in Paris and how the tension between security and freedom was framed by agenda setters. A year later, censorship and mass surveillance are becoming the norm, and we want to fight this: we want to change the discourse to achieve better policy and give everyone the tools to protect their freedom even in hostile environments.
