FemAT: Feminists in Action
By the CDN Feminist Action Team
“Feminists in Action” was FemAT’s first structured Local Action within CDNEE, creating transnational and local spaces across Eastern Europe to discuss female sexuality, sex work, sexual education, and gender-based violence. The core event was an online panel and follow-up workshops featuring a writer/intimacy coach/former pornographer, an activist/MP from Latvia, and a writer/psychotherapist from Croatia, combining broad debate with smaller reflective sessions. FemAT also joined the 16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence campaign on Instagram and highlighted projects like “The Physical Evidence Museum.” Two in-person gatherings took place (Riga and Novi Sad in late December) and the team produced tote bags and hoodies distributed to members and organisers.
The action met its aim to strengthen feminist resilience and democratic engagement by offering safe, critical spaces and fostering micro-communities. The online panel achieved transnational knowledge-sharing and the workshops encouraged active exchange grounded in lived experience. Local meetings deepened trust—Riga’s FLINTA-only setting and Novi Sad’s mixed group each produced meaningful dialogue. Overall, the initiative increased FemAT’s visibility within CDN and laid groundwork for future feminist programming.
